Tortoise On Tour

Published: 2004-05-20
American indie rock band Tortoise will be meandering across the continent for the months of June and July. Sadly the band has only one Canadian date lined up for the tour which is June 29th in Vancouver at the Commodore Ballroom. Supporting Tortoise on their date above the border will be Beans and the Eternal.

The album the five-piece will be supporting on tour is the recently released 'It's All Around You'. The record was dropped in April of this year, and won rave reviews from critics all around the world. 'It's All Around You' was the first album that Tortoise recorded without changing line-ups from the previous record.

Tortoise's debut materialised in that far off year of 1994, presenting for the first time the band's brand of dreamy prog-rock ambience. The album was released on Chicago's Thrill Jockey records, the label that has released every single one of their albums since.

To listen to the most recent Tortoise album 'It's All Around You' in full, go to the band's site at www.trts.com/. There's an animation of a tortoise running around with children on its back that's worth the visit alone (well at least for people with minds that are easily amused).
