Rooney Brings Sunshine To Canada

Published: 2004-05-18
California band Rooney will be leaving the sunny coast behind for a few months as they tour across North America. The group has only one Canadian stop scheduled for the cross continent trek though. Rooney will be touring in support of their self-titled debut.

Although Rooney's first album came out in May of 2003, it wasn't until early this year that the band received major exposure. Singles 'Blueside' and 'If It Were Up To Me' went relatively unnoticed by most teenagers, but the third time was a charm for Rooney. 'Shakin'' has become a presence on most music stations, but granted, it had a bit of help. The song was featured prominently on the television series The O.C., with Rooney even performing live in an episode.

The O.C. also launched band Phantom Planet into stardom by using their song 'California' as the series title theme. It just happens that former drummer of Phantom Planet Jason Schwartzman is the brother of Rooney lead singer Robert Carmine. That show has certainly been kind to their family.

Rooney's only Canadian date:

June 9 Toronto - The Guvernment
