The Shuffle Demons Return To Break World Record

Published: 2004-05-10
The Shuffle Demons have re-united and are celebrating a twentieth anniversary. The band has planned a rather unique way of marking the event. On May 30 the Shuffle Demons are gathering at the square at Yonge and Dundas in Toronto. And they are asking as many saxophone players as possible to join them. Why, you ask? To enter into the Guinness Book of World Records as having the most people playing the same song on a saxophone at the same time. And the song the Shuffle Demons have chosen? A song familiar to every hockey fan in Canada – the theme song for "Hockey Night in Canada".

The Guinness people are into record keeping so the Shuffle Demons are asking anyone who wants to participate in the event to register at their website – The Demons will also send registrants the sheet music for the song when they register. Last minute entrants can show up at noon at the square on May 30 to register. The Shuffle Demons goal is to get at least 500 sax players.

The big event that will take place at 2pm is sure to be heard throughout most of downtown Toronto. A free concert by the Shuffle Demons and some as yet un-named bands will follow the attempt the break the record.

The Shuffle Demons will release a greatest hits CD on June 15. The band is also preparing to embark on a summer tour of Canada.
