Rufus Wainwright's ‘Want Two’ On It’s Way

Published: 2004-05-06
Millions of hearts were broken when the women of the world found out he was gay. Even so, there are many females out there who still wish they could land Rufus Wainwright and probably would try to woo him, given the chance. But even if women can't have him, they can still have his music.

Wainwright plans to release 'Want Two', the counterpart of 'Want One', sometime this fall before the U.S. election. The reason he wishes to release 'Want Two' before the election is because it holds darker lyrics than the previous album, and he doesn't want people to get a weird vibe from it after the results come in. The sooner the album is released, the better, as far as the music world is concerned.

Even though 'Want Two' would technically be considered Wainwright's fourth studio album, it is truly his third. This is because 'Want One' and 'Want Two' are actually one and the same album. Wainwright originally planned to release the records as a double album, but due to lack of funds, his goal could not be realized. Many were quick to point a finger at file sharing for a possible explanation of the decreased funds.

In addition to pushing the release of 'Want Two', Wainwright is also embarking on a tour with Ben Folds and Guster. Each of the artists on the bill will be performing one hour of their own music. Sadly the tour isn't heading Canada's way. And as if that weren't enough, Wainwright also has penning an opera lined up in his sights.
