Scissor Sisters: 24 Hour Party People

Published: 2004-05-03
They've been spending most of their time in Britain, but New York's Scissor Sisters are about to head out on their first ever North American tour. The band will be stopping in two Canadian cities during their 11 date jaunt across the continent. After that the Scissor Sisters will be jetting off to perform at quite a few European festivals.

The Sisters are one of the more unique bands out performing these days. They take the gender bending of David Bowie to an entirely new level. More often than not the males in the band out glitz the female, keeping in line with their party image. They pretty much permanently look like they've just stepped out of a gay club. Comprised of four guys and one girl, each member also has quite an inventive alias. From Ana Matronic to Babydaddy, Scissor Sisters definitely aren't your average band.

The Scissor Sisters released their self-titled debut album this March on Universal records. The first single the band dropped was 'Laura' a neo-disco dance theme created specifically to get people moving. The band has also covered Pink Floyd, reinventing 'Comfortably Numb' into something that is completely their own.
