Las Vegas band the Killers are planning to release their debut album on June 15th. The band is calling the upcoming 11 track record 'Hot Fuss' (perhaps in reference to their current hype status, or perhaps not). So far the Killers have unleashed two singles upon the world, 'Mr. Brightside' and 'Somebody Told Me', which were released on indie label Lizard King. The record, released on Island in North America, will contain both singles.
After the release of 'Hot Fuss' the Killers are planning to do some extensive touring, hopefully returning to Canada (check out the reviews page for Soul Shine's glowing opinion of the band's gig skills). The Killers will also be stopping in Indio, California to perform at Coachella.
The Killers are part of the new wave revolution, and have had the honour of being compared to landmark bands like the Cure, Duran Duran and Blondie. With their lead singer possessing the surname Flowers, it seems the band would be more suited to producing dreamy twee pop, and not the pounding songs of love, lust and murder (yes, murder) they create. But, as everyone knows, assuming makes an ass out of u and ming÷or something like that. More importantly, everyone SHOULD know that the Killers pack all the glitz and glamour of their hometown into a tiny four person package with enough energy to keep a senior citizen partying non-stop for well over a week. Doesn't sound too shabby, does it?
Although they have had more success in the U.K. so far, the Killers are beginning to get the North American coverage they deserve. Look out for 'Hot Fuss' (in record stores) and the Killers (in venues, not dark alleyways) near you.
