Switchfoot Has New Album in the Works

Published: 2008-08-11
Alt-rockers Switchfoot are beginning work on their new album that they hope to release in spring 2009. In spite of coming together in the late nineties the band really began to make some noise when tunes like "Only Hope", "Learning To Breathe" and "Dare You To Move" ended up on the soundtrack to the major motion picture A Walk To Remember. Since then the band has top 40 albums like The Beautiful Letdown, Nothing Is Sound and their most recent album 2006's Oh! Gravity.

Since then frontman Jon Foreman has also been busy with some solo work releasing four EP's, one named after each season. This fall he will release a compilation of songs from the EP's chosen by fans plus two new tunes. The collection will be titled Limbs and Branches. He is also working on a side project with Nickel Creek's Sean Watkins called Fiction Family whose debut album they hope to release before the year's end.

Switchfoot, is getting their next album ready and hope to release in by spring 2009. This will be the band's first album on their own indie label. After attempting to work with several producers the band finally decided to produce the record themselves. The new project is currently untitled. In spite of the fact that their new album won't be out yet the band will head out on tour supporting Habitat for Humanity starting this month and going into the fall. They will be joined on tour by Third Day, Robert Randolph & the Family Band and Jars of Clay. So far no Canadian dates have been announced.
