Cake Release Multiple Records, Tour in 2008

Published: 2008-07-29
Alt-rockers Cake are still working on their upcoming studio release but that doesn't mean that they can't hit the road. The California based band formed in the early nineties and gained a reputation for their mixture of musical genres; everything from funk, ska, pop, jazz and country as well as their syncopated lyrics. The band's debut disc, Motorcade of Generosity was released in 1994 but it wasn't until 2001's Comfort Eagle and the hit single "Short Skirt/Long Jacket" that the band became a household name.

The debut disc will be re-released this fall in a special edition version that will include bonus video content as well as a vinyl version. The band's first live album Live At the Crystal Palace is also expected to be released before the year's end. It was originally set to be released in 2006 but has been pushed back and still has no official release date. As if that's not enough Cake music for 2008 the band is also said to be working on their upcoming new record that is due out later this year.

Though none of these albums have actually been released Cake is already setting out on a small tour this fall. Half of the six date stint will be in Canada, here are the details:

September 25, Toronto, ON Sound Academy
September 26, Hamilton, ON Hamilton Convention Centre
September 27, Montreal, QC - Metropolis
