Rachel Yamagata Releases Double Album

Published: 2008-07-28
Singer-songwriter Rachel Yamagata is readying the release of her sophomore double disc. Yamagata's debut album Happenstance was released in 2004. Since then her tunes have been featured on soundtracks on TV and in the movies appearing on everything from How I Met You Mother, ER and The O.C. to films like In Her Shoes and Elizabethtown. Though it's been four years since the release of her last album she's been keeping busy working with other artists. She's appeared on tunes by the likes of Jason Mraz, Ryan Adams and Bright Eyes. Earlier this year she released an EP Loose Ends as a teaser to the upcoming album.

The new album will be a two disc affair, A Record in Two Parts… Elephants and Teeth Sinking Into Heart and is due out on October 7. The first disc Elephants will contain 10 songs while the second disc will only include five. She told Billboard, "I felt like there were really two listening experiences." Elephants is in a similar style to her debut album while Teeth… is a new direction for Yamagata.

Earlier this year she was touring with fellow female singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, but she plans to tour behind her new record during September and October. No touring details are available yet.
