Aussie singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd is getting set to release his newest record this summer. Rudd released his first album To Let in 2002 but it was his sophomore record Solace that went platinum in his home country of Australia. In 2007 he released his last record White Moth taking home an ARIA award and mounting a few tours, one opening for The Dave Matthews Band and another with opening act Jeremy Fisher. He has also been working on the score for the upcoming Matthew McConaughey film Surfer Dude.

Rudd is probably best known for his live stage performances. His one man shows include Rudd playing multiple instruments at once including the didgeridoo. His upcoming record Dark Shades of Blue is due out August 18 and is described on his website as a balance of darkness and light. Rudd's first single "The World As We Know it" is currently streaming on his official MySpace page, here is the track listing for the album.

"Black Water"
"Dark Shades Of Blue"
"Edge Of The Moon"
"This World As We Know It"
"Up In Flames"
"Hope You'll Stay"

Rudd is also currently in the midst of a world tour supporting the record. Though it will stop in Europe, Asia and North America, no Canadian dates have been announced as of yet.
