Portishead to Begin Work on Follow-Up

Published: 2008-07-11
British trio Portishead came out with their highly anticipated third record earlier this year after over a decade since their last. However, they will not be waiting another 11 years before a follow-up is released, as member Adrian Utley spoke to BBC radio recently and said that the trip hop formation are already thinking about new ideas for their fourth disc.

The group is not doing many (if any) live dates for the rest of 2008, despite that Third came out this year, partially because they want to get to work on new material. The current album is the first and only Portishead album to be in the American Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. Though their roots are based in trip hop, Third's sound is more industrial and experimental than the group is known for.

Portishead played several festival dates this year, including the Barcelona music festival called Primavera Sound at the end of May and Coachella in April in Indio, California.
