Bruce Springsteen to Release Charity EP

Published: 2008-07-09
Next week, American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen will release a live EP, the proceeds from which will go to charity. Magic Tour Highlights will be out on Tuesday, July 15th and feature performances from Springsteen's recent Magic tour, which will include not only his own live renditions but also contributions by other artists on the tour with him.

The 4 songs of the EP will be available digitally on iTunes for the time being, along with a few videos. Profits from its sale will go to the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund, NME reports. Danny Federici played with Springsteen's E Street Band for 38 years before passing away this past April from skin cancer. Magic Tour Highlights features Federici's final performance with Springsteen and the E Street Band as organ and accordion player. Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Alejandro Escovedo round out the other guests who contribute on the EP.

The 58-year-old New Jersey native released his first album with the E Street Band in half a decade last year with his 15th record entitled Magic. Springsteen has been active as a rock and folk artist since 1965. They have been touring Europe and will come back to America for another leg of his Magic tour later this summer.
