Published: 2008-07-07
Former Beatles' member and now solo artist in his own right, Sir Paul McCartney will be helping to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Quebec City this month with his only North American gig this year. McCartney's July 20th performance on the Plains of Abraham will be a free show in the capital of the Quebec province and will be the first time the Brit has played a live show in the city. It will also be his first musical performance in the Canadian nation in three years.

The 66-year-old singer and musician has been active in music since 1957, with his first taste of fame being part of the legendary group, The Beatles in the 1960's. After their breakup at the end of the decade, McCartney went on to release his debut solo record in 1970. His most recent solo work, Memory Almost Full, came out in June 2007 and has sold over 1.5 million copies around the world.
