Sheryl Crow Gets in the Christmas Spirit

Published: 2008-07-07
Though the holiday season seems like a long way away singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow is already getting in the mood for the season recording an upcoming Christmas album. The singer-songwriter with an alt-rock, country sound came on the scene in the nineties with her debut album Tuesday Night Music Club. Through the years she's managed to release top 40 hits like "All I Wanna Do", "If It Makes You Happy" and "The First Cut is the Deepest". Earlier this year Crow released her latest record Detours which she is currently touring behind.

This past June, according to Billboard, Crow also began recording her next album an as-yet-untitled Christmas record produced by Bill Bottrell. The record will be a part of the annual Hallmark series that in the past has featured artists like James Taylor and Barry Manilow. It will be in Hallmark Gold Crown Stores in September. In Billboard, Crow describes the upcoming release as, "Kind of a humble record; it's very sweet and innocent and a bit of a throwback to maybe the '60s or '70s".

Tunes that Crow has mentioned that will be included on the record include "Oh Holy Night", "All Through the Night", "Merry Christmas Baby", "White Christmas" as well as "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and "The Bells of St. Mary".
