The Swell Season Embark on North American Tour

Academy-Award winners The Swell Season are hitting the road this fall. The Swell Season is a duo made up of Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard and Czech pianist and vocalist Markťta IrglovŠ. The Swell Season is also the title of the duo's debut album that was released in 2006 and was named after one of Hansard's favourite novels.

In 2006 the duo also filmed the low budget indie film Once, which is the story of an Irish busker and a Czech flower seller who loves to play the piano, who meet and form a unique bond where they make music together in the streets of Dublin, Ireland. The film's soundtrack, recorded by Hansard and IrglovŠ, was nominated for a couple of Grammys and took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for the tune "Falling Slowly".

In April, The Swell Season released a Live DVD filmed at the Artists Den at the Good Shepherd Center Chapel in Seattle, Washington. It features the pair as well as a couple of musicians from Hansard's band The Frames backing them up.

This summer the duo played a few festival's including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Glastonbury and will be playing at the Baltimore version of V Festival in August. This fall they will continue to tour theatre's across North America with one Canadian stop:
