Known more for his acting and directing, Clint Eastwood is also a piano player and composer. Over the years Eastwood has contributed musical works for many of his films. The musical score for Eastwood's latest film "Mystic River" was composed by Eastwood himself with the exception of two numbers. Eastwood said that he never intended to compose music for his films, it just happened that way. The piano playing composer/director draws upon a lifetime of film music influences including the late Henry Mancini. The fourth annual Hank Award for distinguished service to American Music presented by the Henry Mancini Institute was awarded to Eastwood. Previous honouree, Quincy Jones presented the award to Eastwood. At one time Eastwood was a jazz club piano player, he most recently produced new piano performances for the PBS series 'The Blues'.
