John Mayer Announces Second Leg of Tour

Published: 2008-05-30
John Mayer isn't finished with dates for his upcoming tour – he's just added 9 more stops in August. Mayer will hit a few European cities at the end of June before spending the remainder of the summer on tour in North America. The previously announced part of the tour, up until August 2, will be opened by Colbie Caillat and Brett Dennen. The new dates will be from August 19-31 with the first two shows opened by Paramore and the rest of the tour dates will be opened by OneRepublic.

With no new album to promote this time around Mayer will be putting a new twist on this summer's shows. In an announcement made on his blog, Mayer announced that the show would be divided into sections with the first part consisting of his own material, the second of blues tunes, and the third of cover songs that he loves. The encore, Mayer explained, will be chosen by the fans on his official website. However, the most exciting part is that he wants his fans to document the concerts any way they want, with photos, audio, video clips, and he will host them all on his official website.

He will be releasing a live CD/DVD on July 1 Where the Light Is recorded from a performance in Los Angeles in December 2007. If you miss Mayer's Toronto stop this July, he does come close enough on August 22 for you to catch all the action. Here are the stops he'll make on the second leg:

August 19, Charlotte, NC – Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre
August 20, Pittsburg, PA – Post Gazette Pavilion
August 22, Darien Center, NY – Darien Lake Performing Arts Center
August 23, Hartford, CT – New England Dodge Music Center
August 25, Saratoga Springs, NY – Saratoga Performing Arts Center
August 27, Raleigh, NC – Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion
August 30, Tampa, FL – Ford Amphitheatre
August 31, West Palm Beach, FL – Cruzan Amphitheatre
