Red Hot Chili Peppers Disband Temporarily

Published: 2008-05-29
Multiple Grammy Award winning act the Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced a temporary hiatus from each other as of this month. All the members of the alternative rock group have suffered exhaustion from all the music making and touring they have been doing for the last few years and so have announced that they will be taking a break that will last a minimum of 12 months.

While frontman Anthony Kiedis will be spending more time on personal and familial issues, guitarist John Frusciante, drummer Chad Smith and bassist Flea will be working on other musical projects. For instance, Smith started up another band in late 2007 called Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats and their debut is scheduled for release sometime this year.

The group's last record was 2006's Stadium Arcadium and their most recent tour in support of it ended in late 2007. It is the foursome's ninth studio LP and was released on Warner Brothers Records. Stadium Arcadium gained the Red Hot Chili Peppers seven Grammy Award nominations in 2007. They have been together for 25 years.
