Jennifer Hudson Releases Debut this September

Published: 2008-05-20
Chicago native Jennifer Hudson is proof that you don't need to win American Idol to be successful. The diva in waiting was seventh place on the popular televised talent competition in its third season. After Hudson left American Idol she was cast in the role of Effie White in the film version of the Broadway musical Dreamgirls alongside fellow diva Beyonce Knowles. The performance earned her numerous accolades and awards including a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and an Academy Award.

Now Hudson will be releasing her debut self-titled album in September. Her first single "Spotlight" written by R&B producer Ne-Yo will hit radio early on June 9. Other contributors on her album include Timbaland, Robin Thicke, and Dianne Warren.
