Weezer Album Release Date Changes

Published: 2008-05-15
The date for Weezer's upcoming self-titled record, otherwise known as the Red Album has again been changed, this time it's slated for release several weeks earlier than previously planned on June 3rd in North America. The three week advance date for the American group's sixth LP is in part a result of the success and popularity of first single, "Pork and Beans", which NME reports hit the top spot on the Modern Rock chart of Billboard. Previously scheduled dates for the album's release were June 24th and April 22nd of this year. The 10-track disc comes out three years after the group's last, 2005's Make Believe.

Last December, frontman Rivers Cuomo released a solo album containing rare tracks and demos that he recorded without the other members of Weezer. It is called Alone – The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo. Weezer, who have sold over 7 million records in the United States, started in 1992. They took a brief hiatus in 1997 but got back together in 2000 and have been making music and touring ever since.
