The Police Announce Final Show

Published: 2008-05-08
The Police announced their final show ever in a press conference at New York's Time Square earlier this week. Though the date and location have not been announced, it will be in New York and will be a fundraiser with proceeds benefiting, "the production of arts programming for public television stations Thirteen/WNET and WLIW New York" according to Billboard. The band will also contribute a million dollars to Mayor Bloomberg's MillionTreesNYC initiative to plant trees across the city with the city matching the donation.

The Police came together in the late 70's and saw massive successes with tunes like "Message in A Bottle" and "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic". Last year the band reunited with a massively successful tour that took them all over the world. They are currently in the middle of the last leg of that tour and though they don't have any more Canadian dates set they did pass through Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa over the past year.

The last date they have booked so far is August 5 in Wantagh, New York. The tour, with openers Elvis Costello & the Imposters is expected to be one of the highest grossing of the year.
