Rockport shoes revealed their Fall 2008 line this past week at their 2577 Yonge Street store in Toronto. The shoes continue to be shaped narrow, which may hinder customers with a wider instep to seek a different brand, but hopefully Rockport will take notice of this need and incorporate some selections for their customers with a wider instep in the future. That aside, Rockport have delivered a fresh set of footwear that speaks quality, modern technology, and clean lines good to go from the boardroom to the outdoors seven days a week.
Instead of the traditional felt, pile, and foam insulation, Rockport has introduced Thinsolate insulation for their cold weather collection. This alternative isn't bulky and helps air pockets retain their shape rather than get compacted like the aforementioned felt, pile, and foam. It also absorbs less than 1% of its weight in water to keep feet warm even in damp conditions.
The men's shoe line for Fall is all about classic colours, comfort, and durability. Classic colours of beige, black, brown, and grey are the choices for men's footwear this Fall, with the more vibrant colours being reserved for men's Spring sneakers. The Torsion cushioning system from Adidas is back again and the introduction of XCS, which combines the sleek lines of downtown footwear with outdoor ruggedness gives new meaning to curb appeal.
The Fall 2008 women's shoe line delivers classic colours like the men, but mixes it up a bit with a hint of eggplant and red to highlight the rich colours of Fall in your wardrobe. Gone are the days of pointed high heels, Rockport has created height without the flimsy heel by creating their collection with a variety of wedge heels and chunky stout heels which provide lift without the ankle twisting. Flats in dress shoes and boots are also the shape of choice and the Mary Jane is the winner as the shoe to go from casual to office footwear and comes in suede and leather with classic stitching. Where the women's shoe line really shines is with the metallic accents of their XCS downtown outdoor footwear. There are no tired browns and grays here, silver metallics provide the necessary edge, along with streaks of orange mixed with neutral beige and slate grays. Overall, Rockport has delivered sleek, functional footwear with technology that responds to their customer's daily needs and provides the necessary edge as a functional modern accessory.
