Tina Turner Plans Tour for Fall

Published: 2008-05-05
Despite the fact that Tina Turner announced that she was retiring from touring eight years ago, the singer is set to stage a comeback to the scene with a tour later this year. Billboard states that Turner's opening tour date is October 1st, 2008 in Kansas, Missouri at the Sprint Centre. Forty North American dates are expected to be announced, along with several other dates around the world, to be promoted by AEG Live.

The American entertainer has won eight Grammy Awards throughout her extensive career, which began back in 1956. Though she stated that no major touring would occur after the year 2000, she continued to do collaborations with artists and make solo appearances every once in awhile. A greatest hits compilation entitled All the Best hit the charts in 2004, though her last album of new material was 1999's Twenty Four Seven. This past February, Turner performed live with modern R&B singer Beyoncé at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.
