Coldplay Give Sneak Peek at Upcoming Record with Free Single

Published: 2008-04-30
"Violet Hill" is the first single from Coldplay's highly anticipated new record, Viva La Vida or Death and all His Friends and has been made available as a free online download of yesterday, April 28th, 2008 on the group's official website. However, the song will only be available for an extremely limited time: seven days from its initial release, which means fans will have to pay for the tune as of May 6th from online stores.

The group's fourth album will be out on June 17th in North America, on their label, Capitol Records. Earlier this week, Coldplay made public the cover art for their record, which comes out three years after their 2005 album X&Y. They are set to play a few free shows this June, including one in their home country (London, England) at Brixton Academy on the 16th and another in New York City's Madison Square Garden on the 23rd. Coldplay also have at least one Canadian summer date scheduled thus far: British Columbia's Pemberton Festival on the 17th of July.

"Violet Hill" can be downloaded on http://www.coldplay.com today.
