Bright Eyes’ Frontman Releases Solo Album This Summer

Published: 2008-04-24
Conor Oberst, otherwise known as the singer and guitarist for indie folk group, Bright Eyes, will release his first solo album in over a dozen years this summer. The self-titled disc will come out on the 4th of August on Merge Records and will be Oberst's fourth full-length. His last solo effort was 1996's The Soundtrack to My Movie.

Conor Oberst was recorded earlier this year in Mexico for a period of two months. Oberst both self-produced the album and received some production help from Andy LeMaster. There are 12 new songs in total, and the musicians Oberst worked with call themselves The Mystic Valley Band. Oberst and his solo band will tour some festival dates this year, including the Leeds and Reading Festivals in Europe and Texas' Austin City Limits Music Festival.

The last Bright Eyes record came out in 2007 and was called Cassadaga. This past February, the artwork for the album won art director Zachary Nipper a Grammy Award.
