Olympic Island 2008 Concert Acts Announced

Published: 2008-04-15
Death Cab For Cutie and Stars are the bands set to perform at the annual concert on Toronto Island this year. Set to happen on Saturday, June 7 the concert has hosted the likes of Modest Mouse, Sloan and Broken Social Scene in years past.

Indie rockers Death Cab For Cutie have been making music together since the late 90's but really made a splash on the scene with their 2003 album Transatlanticism. Songs from the album were featured on shows like The O.C. and Six Feet Under and led to their first major label release Plans. In May, the band will drop their latest release Narrow Stairs. Along with the Olympic Island show the band will also play one other Canadian show Jacques Cartier Pier in Montreal on June 6.

Death Cab For Cutie will be joined by indie rockers Stars at this Toronto island concert. Stars made a couple of records before their breakthrough album Set Yourself on Fire which dropped in 2004 and last year they released their newest record In Our Bedroom After the War. The only other Canadian tour date Stars has listed on their official website for this summer is a performance at Calgary's first Virgin Music Festival which happens on June 22.
