This past Sunday, April 6th, the 2008 Juno Awards took place in Calgary, Alberta at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
Singer-songwriter Feist proved she really is Canada's indie darling, scooping up 5 Juno awards for the 5 categories in which she was nominated. On Saturday's un-televised Juno ceremony, Feist won Junos for Songwriter of the Year and Artist of the Year, while during Sunday's CTV broadcast, she picked up the trophies for Singe of the Year, Album and Pop Album of the Year for The Reminder.
Blue Rodeo was a popular name this past weekend as well, with their 3 Juno wins for Group of the Year, Adult Alternative Album of the Year and Video of the Year.
Other winners included Brian Doerksen for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year for Holy God, Finger Eleven for Rock Album, Belly for Rap Recording, Jully Black for R&B/Soul Recording, Paul Brandt for Country Recording, and Arcade Fire for Alternative Album. In the Best New Group category, Wintersleep was awarded the Juno, while Serena Ryder took home the award for Best New Artist. The Juno Fan Choice Award, which is voted on by the public, was given to Michale Bublé, and the International Album Juno was awarded to Rihanna for Good Girl Gone Bad.
