New Kids on the Block Confirm Reunion

Published: 2008-04-07
Late 1980's and early 1990's boy band New Kids on the Block officially confirmed their reunion on NBC's "The Today Show" last Friday, April 4th. Rumors had been swirling since January when American magazine "People" revealed an imminent announcement was in the works. The American quintet were together in public for the first time in 14 years to proclaim not only that they have been working on a new album since last August but that a tour in select cities this fall is to follow.

The American television network even briefly played their new song, "Summertime", off the new record, which is expected to be called Back on the Block, and will be their first since 1994's Face the Music. Over three quarters of the upcoming disc is said to have been written by original members Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight and Joey McIntyre. The rest of the reunited New Kids on the Block include original members Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood.

The first live and so far only confirmed live performance of the band will be again on NBC's "The Today Show" on May 16th. Their official website, NKOTB.com, has also been recently updated.
