Hope Of The States Finally Release Debut

Published: 2004-04-26
Enormous tragedy struck Chichester band Hope Of The States when lead guitarist James Lawrence was found dead on January 25th, 2004. Only 26, Lawrence hung himself in the studio the band had been recording in before their debut album was complete and only ten days before his next birthday. Needless to say, this incident put a damper on the group's plans.

Although Lawrence is deeply missed, Hope Of The States decided to carry on without him. Mike Hibbert, a friend of the band, stepped up to the plate to fill in the space left empty by Lawrence. Three months after the death of their guitarist, HOTS has finally finished recording their highly anticipated debut album.

The 11 track record has been titled 'The Lost Riots' and is slated to drop on June 7th in the United Kingdom. At the moment, a North American release has not been scheduled, but the album will be available on import. The band worked on 'The Lost Riots' with producer Ken Thomas, who has also worked with Icelandic band Sigur Ros.

HOTS has currently released two singles including 'Black Dollar Bills' and 'Enemies/Friends', which was highly successful in Britain. The next single the band will release is 'The Red, The White, The Black, The Blue'. All of the singles are featured on 'The Lost Riots'.
