Coldplay Confirm Details of Next Record

Published: 2008-03-26
Though previously rumoured to be called Prospekt, the new Colplay record has now been officially named Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, to be released on the 17th of June of this year. The Spanish phrase of the title means "Long Live Life" and vocalist Chris Martin got the inspiration after seeing a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The English rock band have been working in London, England with producer Brian Eno on this, their follow up to their 2005 disc, X & Y since December of 2006.

Coldplay's fourth album is expected to be a bit of a departure from their previous work, with Martin's stretching his vocal abilities and experimenting with different instrumental sounds.

Almost 20 song and titles have been thrown around in the last few months as considerations for the track listing of Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, but still nothing is confirmed. In North America, the new album will come out via Capitol Records.
