Bob Marley’s Life Being Turned into Motion Picture

Published: 2008-03-06
The life of late reggae legend Bob Marley is set to be turned into a full-length film with the blessing of Marley's widow, Rita. Rita Marley released a memoir in 2004 entitled No Woman No Cry: My Life with Bob Marley, the rights to which have been optioned to movie producers Bob and Harvey Weinstein. Marley will act as executive producer of the film, which is also slated to be directed by Rudy Langlais. The memoir is, at the moment, being adapted into a screenplay by Lizzie Borden in Jamaica.

Marley would love to have hip hop artist Lauryn Hill, formerly of The Fugees as well as daughter-in-law to the late Marley, play Rita in the motion picture. If she accepts, this would not be Hill's first foray into acting as the singer also had a role in the 1993 movie, Sister Act 2: Breaking the Habit.
