David Usher Planning to Release Album This Year

Published: 2008-02-08
Though Canadian singer-songwriter David Usher released his fifth full-length record just last year, he is already working on his sixth, which he would like to have out ideally by this fall. Usher had announced plans in late in 2007 that he wanted to make an acoustic record, which would feature stripped down versions of previous material he had written and recorded, as well as covers and a few new songs. But things began to go in a different direction once the tour for 2007's Strange Birds ended, and instead of an acoustic disc, Usher reveals that the new music is "probably as close as I've gotten to a rock record in awhile!"

The former Moist frontman, who updates his blog on DavidUsher.com on a fairly regular basis, wrote at the beginning of last month that he hopes the as-yet-unnamed album will be completed in the next four months with the first single out sometime this summer. A tentative release date is slated for September. Usher and his band have already completed the arrangements as well as drums and songs such as "And So We Run" are in their early stages at the moment.
