SOCAN Awards Canadians this Past Monday

Two days ago, on Monday, November 20th, The Society of Composers Authors and Music Publishers of Canada held their annual award ceremony honouring outstanding Canadian musical achievement.
Hosted by Kim Stockwood and Damhnait Doyle of the Canadian band Shaye, the SOCAN Awards were given out to acts such as Nelly Furtado, Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace fame, and Jim Vallance.
Rockers Nickelback not only won for their song "Savin' Me" but also received an International Achievement Award for their global recognition.

Ronnie Hawkins received a Special Achievement Award while Walter Ostanek got a Lifetime Achievement Award. The late Stan Rogers was given a National Achievement Award at the ceremony as well.
