Coldplay World Tour?

Published: 2004-04-21
Some mighty fine news for fans of the British band Coldplay as they have recently surfaced, though quite unofficially. Though Coldplay vowed that they would not put out another album for quite some time, it looks as if they won't be making the same promise for touring. The band has hinted that a world tour may be in the works, set for some time in the new year. Ian McCulloch, lead singer of seminal 80s band Echo And The Bunnymen, made a statement to Gigwise saying that his band has been asked by Chris Martin to support Coldplay on 'a massive tour in the New Year'.

Coldplay is one of the most internationally successful bands to emerge out of Britain in quite sometime. They found massive amounts of praise for their debut album 'Parachutes', a record that spawned what very well might've been THE single of the year 2000. The band then followed up with sophomore effort 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' doing effortlessly what most bands fail to even come close to: making a good second album. 'Rush Of Blood' received just as much praise as Coldplay's previous album and gained them legions of new fans with singles like 'In My Place' and 'The Scientist', one of the most oddly named love ballads in recent times.

The celebrity of the band eventually reached heights that surely Coldplay never expected. In the wake of Chris Martin and actress Gwenyth Paltrow's exposed romance, the singer found he could go nowhere without being photographed. With a few charges pressed upon Martin by members of the press for unlawful acts (allegedly hitting a photographer in Australia being one of them), it seemed time for the megastar to step out of the spotlight for a little while. That is where we find the band now, lurking in the shadows, although it seems not for much longer.
