The nominations for the 2007 American Music Awards were announced this Tuesday, October 9th, with the actual event taking place later next month in Los Angeles.
Four acts that have been keeping very busy this past year were honoured with three nominations each: Justin Timberlake, Linkin Park, Beyonce and Daughtry.
Each of them are nominated under the Favourite Album Category, though under the genre closest to the music they make – Linkin Park, Daughtry for Pop/Rock and Beyonce and Justin Timberlake in Soul/R&B. Timberlake's album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, which spans musical genres is also nominated for Favourite Album in the Pop/Rock Album, while R. Kelly's record, Double Up, rounds out the nominees in the Soul/R&B category.
The ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who will be celebrating his 25th anniversary show this year. It will be broadcast live on ABC at 8pm on November the 18th from the Nokia Theatre. So far, performances have been confirmed from the likes of Rihanna, Fergie and Celine Dion.
What is particularly unique about this year's awards is that it will be the first time that winners will be chosen by online voting at http://ama.abc.com.
