The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2008 nominees have just been announced, and they include Canadian Leonard Cohen, Madonna, John Mellencamp, the Beastie Boys and Donna Summer.
The other nominees are rounded out by Chic, The Ventures, Afrika Bambaataa and The Dave Clark Five. If inducted, these nominees will be able to share the prestigious honour of being part of the Hall of Fame along with musical legends such as, Elvis Presley, James Brown and Led Zeppelin.
The induction ceremony is held in New York City, at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, and next year's will take place on the 10th of March 2008. Cleveland, Ohio is the location of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame itself.
The nominees are chosen by 500 members of the music community, including fellow musicians, journalists and professionals of the industry and the process has been taking place for over 20 years since 1986.
