Max Lucado's 3:16 Line In Stores Across North America

Published: 2007-09-24
Best-selling author Max Lucado recently released his new book 3:16 and the book's companion DVD which is now available at mainstream book and video stores across North America as of September 11. The launch date was specific because Lucado's plan is to replace the number of terror attached to 9/11 with a number of hope, 3:16, after the verse John 3:16 in the Bible. The verse reads: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (ESV) Eugene Peterson's version, The Message, describes things further:

"This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him." (MSG)

Over 1 million copies of the book 3:16 have been shipped already and 3:16: Songs of Hope which are a collection of songs inspired by John 3:16, features Jars of Clay, Third Day, Chris Tomlin and many more such as Jaci Valasquez, whose song "God So Loved" inspired Lucado's interest in writing 3:16. The companion to the book, the DVD, contains a powerful short film called "Wherever You Are" (also written by Lucado) and footage of Lucado sharing the meaning of John 3:16. "Wherever You Are" features a woman named Katherine who finds herself in a dance club far from home, remembering a more innocent time in her life, exemplified by her dancing with her father. Katherine's story of eventual rebellion and consequence leads to an inspiring account of forgiveness, grace and unconditional love.
