This past weekend, September 8-9th, saw the second annual Osheaga Music and Arts Festival hit Montreal's Parc Jean Drapeau, with over 65 bands performing on four stages over the span of two days.
Headlining act for day 1 was the newly reunited alternative rock formation the Smashing Pumpkins, whose set included new material from this year's Zeitgeist as well as classic Pumpkins hits, such as "Today", "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and "Stand Inside Your Love". Music lovers who attended the Saturday show also were privileged to experience performances by the likes of Damien Rice, Dumas, Feist, Stars and Patrick Watson on the main stages and littler known acts such as Explosions in the Sky, Justin Nozuka, The Clientele and The Heights on the smaller stages.
Day 2 saw Bloc Party close the show, preceded by artists such as Interpol, Gotan Project, Macy Gray, the Arctic Monkeys and the Sam Roberts Band, as well as M.I.A., the Besnard Lakes, Miracle Fortress and You Say Party! We Say Die!
Osheaga not only offered music to Montrealers but a program of art exhibitions under the theme of Human_Nature, by artists such as The Young People's Foundation, Kops Krew, Ethan Murrow, Low Fi ME and The ZOO LAB Project. The 15,000 strong crowd were definitely in a for a treat this weekend with plenty of music and arts to go around.
