KOCH Records Forms Christian Division

Published: 2007-08-29
KOCH Records is expanding its market reach with their Christian imprint, Kosmos Records. The new imprint, which will be directed by Barry Landis, President and CEO of Landis Entertainment and Media Partners, will release three to four new projects each year and will be based in Nashville. Before he formed his own company, Landis worked with POD at Atlantic Record's Christian unit and was President of Word Records, one of the largest Christian music companies in the world. While at Word, he signed such acts as Building 429 and Randy Travis who have both gone on to notable success.

Bob Frank, KOCH Records president says, ""Barry has done a great job of getting us positioned right where we want to be for this fall. New artists, new distribution dealsóthese are the lifeblood of any great music company and I'm excited about all the artists and products we are about to release." Under the direction of Landis, Kosmos has signed its first new artists, Melissa Greene and indie rock band, The Myriad. The Myriad will release their first project under the deal this fall, an exclusive EP for the Christian marketplace. Melissa Greene will ship her first single this fall, with the street date of her debut project coming in the first quarter of 2008. The new label has additionally secured two major distribution deals with Floodgate Records and Martingale Music.
