Switchfoot Leaves Sony, Works on New Projects

Published: 2007-08-15
San Diego's Switchfoot are brewing up new ways to bridge the gap between audience and stage after their recent departure from Sony and Columbia Records. Frontman Jon Foreman explains, "I've got some exciting news: after several years of trying to make things work over at Columbia we have officially severed our ties with Sony to pursue making music independently. We are thankful for the incredible success that our partnership has produced over the years, yet within this ever changing business there can arise differences in vision and goals. These differences have now come to a point where we feel like parting ways would be best for us, and best for Sony."

Switchfoot have just cut the first 13 tracks to their currently untitled album they will be releasing in 2008, and Jon Foreman has a few other projects on the go too. Foreman will be releasing a solo CD currently called Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer and Foreman is also working with Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek fame on their collaborative project called The Real Sean Jon.
