Hilary Duff Helps Serve at Edmonton Homeless Shelter

Published: 2007-08-02
Pop singer Hilary Duff was recently in Edmonton, Alberta to kick off her cross Canada tour by serving the homeless at Edmonton's Herb Jamieson Centre as part of her campaign to raise awareness about poverty and hunger.

Duff served chicken stew and dessert for an hour at Herb Jamieson and also visited the nearby Hope Mission. Duff told the Vancouver Sun, "The Hope Mission was a priority and we wanted to lend a handÖit's so rewarding for me. I love to get down and dirty and help out."

Duff is also asking for non-perishable food donations from concert-goers on her tour as part of her collaboration with Canadian Harvest, where the singer has raised more than 125,000 pounds of food on her past 2 Canadian tours.

She mentioned that homelessness and hunger are simple to solve and that compassion is the key to the remedy.
