Semisonic Singer to Release Solo Album

Dan Wilson, lead singer of alternative rock formation Semisonic, is set to release his debut solo effort entitled Free Life this October 16.

American Records will release Free Life which will feature collaborations with fellow musicians such as Sheryl Crow, Gary Louris of the Jayhawks, Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Eric Fawcett of N*E*R*D and Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek.

Though the American trio that Wilson was the lead singer of never announced an official breakup, the last Semisonic album came out over six years ago: All About Chemistry in 2001. In the meantime, Wilson has been writing and producing for other acts such as Jewel, Jason Mraz and the Dixie Chicks.
