Elvis Presley Statue in Hawaii Unveiled

Published: 2007-07-30
In 1973, the late rock 'n' roll legend Elvis Presley performed a famous concert in Hawaii that will now be commemorated via the life-sized statue of the singer that now sits at the site.

The Neil Blaisdell Centre was host to one of the three shows the King ever performed in the American state as well as one of the first shows ever broadcast all over the world on the TV show, "Aloha From Hawaii". The event attracted more than a million people almost 35 years ago.

A gift from TV Land, the Presley statue is an all-bronze likeness of the American entertainer that was unveiled at a ceremony attended by Honolulu mayor Mufi Hannemann.
