Coldplayís New Album to Have Hispanic Theme

Published: 2007-07-26
British alternative rock formation Coldplay spoke about their upcoming album and said it will have a distinctly Hispanic theme, owing mostly to the fact that it is currently being recorded in the city of Barcelona, Spain.

The initial plan was to record the follow up to the band's 2005 record X&Y in London, England but the sessions were moved to Spain after the enjoyable experience the band members had touring regions of Latin America such as Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.

While there will not be any "maracas or castanets", the blog entry on Coldplay's official website states that both the music, lyrics and feel of the new disc will have an air that is decidedly inspired by the likes of Barcelona and Buenos Aires.

A release date of February 2008 has been floating around for the as-yet-untitled record.
