Cirque Du Soleil's Kooza Readies for Toronto

Published: 2007-07-19
The latest Cirque du Soleil show, Kooza premiered back in May in Montreal, but before it heads to the US, it's stopping in Toronto. Kooza's name was inspired from the Sanskrit word "koza" which means "box" and was chosen for this production because it surrounds the idea of circus in a box.

Kooza will combine acrobatic performance and the art of clowning with bold slapstick humor Cirque du Soleil has made its signature. It will also present the High Wire and an astounding Wheel of Death, which has never been presented before under the big top. The show is said to be about good vs. evil in regards to human connection. Writer and director David Shiner says of the experience, "the tone is fun and funny, light and open÷we are [also] exploring concepts such as fear, identity, recognition and power."

Tickets range from $45.50-$100 and VIP Tapis Rouge tickets are $157.50-$225. Kooza runs under the Grand Chapiteau at the Port Lands on Cherry Street in Toronto from August 9 - September 23, 2007. For tickets, please visit
