Spice Girls Confirm Reunion

Published: 2007-07-04
British pop group the Spice Girls have confirmed that they will be reuniting after their breakup from six years ago.

This November, Virgin Records will be releasing Greatest Hits, a compilation album of the quintet's best songs and so the Spice Girls will begin a world tour in support of it beginning December. A new record as well as a documentary showing the darker side of the band by filmmaker Bob Smeaton is also under discussion for later in 2007.

The tour, called, "The Return of the Spice Girls", is set to hit eleven different cities around the world, though none in Canada. They are Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, London, Cologne, Madrid, Beijing, Hong Kong, Sydney, Cape Town and Buenos Aires.

In 1998, Geri Halliwell, otherwise known as Ginger Spice, left the group, spelling the beginning of the end. The Spice Girls' last record of new material was 2001's Forever, which failed to achieve the success of its predecessors, 1997's Spiceworld and 1996's Spice.

It is AWESOME that they are going on for one last tour, but it sucks that they are not even making ONE canadian date. I have no problem paying the $200.00/ticket, however, after looking at what it will cost me as a Manitoban (in Canada) to make it to the closest concert of theirs would be around $1,500-$2,000 - considering flight, tickets, food, money, hotel, transport...
Come to Canada, we want you here!
