Tegan and Sara in the Studio

Published: 2004-04-14
Canadian act Tegan and Sara have a new album in the works. At the moment the duo is still busy recording in Vancouver. The record is as yet unnamed and if things go as planned will be released sometime in August. Matt sharp, former bassist of Weezer, contributed his skills on keyboards to three songs on the upcoming album.

Originally from Calgary, twins Tegan and Sara Quin have been at the forefront of the Canadian antifolk music scene since 1998. Their first wide release came with 'This Buisness of Art' which was produced by fellow Canadian Hawksley Workman. The album caused little impact on a world dominated by Britneys and Linkin Parks, but that didn't stop the pair from trying again. The year 2002 saw the release of 'If It Was You', their latest effort. This album spawned the single 'I Hear Noises' which received a fair amount of airtime on Much Music and even made an appearance on the hit t.v. show 'Newlyweds'. After the release of 'If It Was You' Tegan and Sara even found themselves on tour with the notoriously moody Ryan Adams amidst calls for 'Summer of '69'.

For those who can't wait until summer for new Tegan and Sara material, a cover of David Bowie's 'Rebel Rebel' is available on a compilation called 'Spiders From Venus'. The album features 19 tracks by female bands performing their renditions of the great DB's work.
