The Beastie Boys Are Back

Published: 2004-04-14
They are one of the most influential hip-hop acts ever to have entered the music charts. They are still one of the most respected musical groups ever, regardless of genre. They are name dropped by everyone who's anyone. They are the Beastie Boys. And they are back.

The last album the Beasties put out was released way back in 1998. That's six long years ago. Their fifth studio album, 'Hello Nasty' met the same critical acclaim as their previous groundbreaking albums. Hell, it even won a Grammy. The Beastie Boys managed not to burn out and created something fresh and exciting. It can only be assumed they will manage to do it once again with their new album. It's coming up to twenty years since the Beastie Boys made their debut, and as far as anyone can tell, they aren't losing any steam.

The Beastie Boys' highly anticipated album is slated to drop sometime in the summer, though as of yet there is still no official release date. The band has been recording in New York City as a conscious decision to get back to their roots. The new album has been christened 'To The 5 Boroughs' and will be hip-hop based, but as usual will blend many different genres together. As expected the record is highly political, and takes quite a few jabs at current President Bush and the U.S. government in general.

The first single lifted off of 'To The 5 Boroughs' will be 'Ch-Check It Out'.

The track listing is:

"Ch-Check It Out"
"Right Right Now Now"
"The Hard Way"
"Time To Build"
"Rhyme The Rhyme Well"
"Triple Trouble"
"Hey F*** You"
"Oh Word?"
"That's It's That All"
"All Life Styles"
"An Open Letter To NYC"
"Crawl Space"
"The Brouhaha"
"We Got The"
