Published: 2007-06-08
Australian alternative rock formation Silverchair posted the dates of their first North American tour since 1999 on their official website ( this past Tuesday, June 6th.

The "Young Modern" world tour is taking the trio to at least eighteen different cities on the continent, including 3 Canadian dates, as they support their fifth album, called Young Modern, which was released in Australia in March and will be hitting North American stores on July 24th of this year.

Young Modern arrives 5 years after their 2002 record, Diorama, which marked a definite change in sound for the group closer to a progressive rock style than the post-grunge they were most known for when they were teenagers and started the band.

Young Modern has already had a notable amount of success since its Australian release: not only did it go double platinum in a month but it is also Silverchair's fifth #1 album, which is a new record for # 1 albums and Australian artists in their home country.

The Canadian dates for the "Young Modern" World tour are:

July 21st, Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom
July 30th, Montreal, QC - Spectrum
August 1st, Toronto, ON - Phoenix
