Kurt Cobain's Musical Influences to be Featured in Biopic

Published: 2007-06-05
Kurt Cobain: About a Son is another film about the late Nirvana vocalist Kurt Cobain that is set to hit theatres later this year and will feature songs by bands that have inspired Cobain.

Iggy Pop, Credence Clearwater Revival and R.E.M. all have tracks on the film's soundtrack, which will be available on September 11th, 2007. There will be no Nirvana material, besides audio-taped Cobain interviews, in the film or in the soundtrack, but there will be an original version of "The Man Who Sold the World" (which Nirvana famously covered and released as a live single during the mid-90s) as performed by David Bowie. Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service fame, along with producer Steve Fisk, composed a score specifically for About a Son, and Gibbard contributed a brand new song as well.

The release date of the film is still-to-be determined at the moment.
